About Me
My name is Shellie Rich. I became a Lamaze Certified
Childbirth Educator because I am passionate about improving
childbirth experiences for women and their families. I love
being involved with this pivotal point in the lives of women
and enjoy supporting women to make informed choices to get
the safe and satisfying birth experience that they deserve. I
have a B.S. in Secondary Education and did health education
and counseling for years before the birth of my daughter in
2002. I was fascinated by the things I read about pregnancy,
childbirth, and breastfeeding during my own pregnancy. At
that time, I also heard some of the stories that all pregnant
women hear of great and not-so-great birth experiences. My
own birth experience was incredibly empowering and I love to
help other women to have wonderful births as well.

In addition to teaching childbirth classes, I also teach prenatal
water fitness classes at my local YMCA. I am a La Leche
League Leader and Membership Vice President at my child's
cooperative preschool. Please feel free to contact me with
questions about breastfeeding or to attend our monthly LLL
series meetings. I also am I glad to answer questions about
cooperative preschools in general or Downey Cooperative
Preschool specifically.

My daughter, Ginger, is almost four. She is so much fun and
parenting has turned out to be an amazing opportunity for
learning and spiritual growth.

Lamaze ® International's certification means that I have
completed a thorough training program including a rigorous
examination and review of my curriculum. Visit
